10 Tips to Spring Clean Your Home

10 Tips to Spring Clean Your Home

Winter is finally over and spring has arrived! The snow is melting and summer is right around the corner. It's time to get ready for all the summer fun with our 10 tips to spring clean your home. I know personally deep cleaning my house is one of my least favorite things to do, but taking a day to spring clean the spots we generally forget can save you time in the future when it's time for all the summer parties at your home. I find the most success with my spring cleaning when I start at the top of a room and work my way toward the bottom. First thing first before you even start to spring clean, open every window in your house and crank up your favorite music. This will help you have some fun while you clean, and get fresh air in your whole house.

1. Ew, Cobwebs

Start by vacuuming the cobwebs in the corners of each room, and while you are working your way around the room make sure to get any recessed lights and ceiling fans. Make sure to get all the vents and areas above doors and windows as well.

2. Let Your Lights Shine

Use a slightly damp microfiber cloth to wipe down all light bulbs and fixtures to bring more light into each room. Light bulbs can build up a gross film that cuts down the light coming into a room.

3. Dust! Dust! Dust!

Use a damp cloth to wipe down all walls, cabinets, baseboards, and plants.

4. Shake Out Those Rugs

Remove all the area rugs in your home and shake them out as well as vacuum them.

5. Mirrors & Windows

Clean all mirrors and windows with vinegar and water solution including sills and doors.

6. Let's Get Organized

Next up? Clean and organize your refrigerator, closet, pantry, and cabinets. Anywhere that can accumulate junk!

7. Do You Really Need That?

Once your done organizing, sort all the items you no longer use into a "throw-away" and "donate" pile.

8. Out With the Old, In With the New

Change out any dead bulbs in your home and replace the batteries with your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.

9. Watch Out For Spiders

No one wants to do this...but clean and organize the garage. Your future you will thank you later.

10. Bye, Bye Germs

Sanitize all cleaned areas with a combination of bleach and water.

Congratulations! You did it!
