How to Create a Beautiful Spring Entryway

How to Create a Beautiful Spring Entryway

Welcome spring to your home with an inviting, farmhouse-inspired entryway! This light and airy look is a perfect backdrop for springtime blooms but is versatile enough to work well with your seasonal decor all year round.

Farm Foundation

The basis for this look is casual farmhouse style with traditional silhouettes, plenty of antique white, and vintage touches. One of the main pieces in this look is the sofa table that we’re using as a console. It has a traditional silhouette and turned legs, but slatted shelves and a two-tone rubbed white and distressed grey finish give it a distinctly farmhouse feel. An accent chair with rolled arms and striped blue, grey, and cream upholstery adds a subtle hint of color and coziness to the room. The neutral ivory and charcoal rug on the floor fits in with the predominantly neutral color scheme of the room and features a large-scale floral pattern for a nod to traditional style.

Practical Choices

Not only is this entryway bursting with farmhouse good looks—it’s also fabulously functional. The two open shelves in the sofa table provide plenty of space for both display and storage. A large mirror above the table allows you to double-check your appearance before you head out the door, while a shelf with hooks waits to hold coats, hats, and more in an out of the way spot. The black side table and the scrolled iron table lamp pair with the accent chair to transform the corner into both a cozy reading nook and the perfect spot to put on shoes before you head out the door.

Sprinkle in Some Color

Because the furniture in this look is mostly neutral, we used home decor and floral bouquets to bring color and additional texture to the room. The ceramic vase and pitcher vase both have elements of blue that tie in with the blue of the accent chair, while the metal “home” sign and the framed metal and wood wall art introduce galvanized metal for a bit of texture and a vintage vibe. Because the colors of the decor items are fairly subtle, they allow the bright colors of the flowers to take center stage and create a springtime feel.

By choosing farmhouse-inspired furniture with traditional silhouettes, neutral colors, and practical features, it’s easy to create a welcoming entryway that you can enjoy all year round by simply swapping out seasonal decor.
