Matt Santomarco Biography

This is where I tell you the vainglorious and mysterious reasons why I take photographs and the latent meanings behind my images... but that's not me! I enjoy landscape photography because...well, it's a heck of a lot of fun! It's that simple.

I am a Colorado-based photographer right outside the city of Denver. I consider myself very lucky to live in such a photogenic state-sorry New Jersey. Colorado is an amazing playground of photographic possibilities around every corner. I specialize in HDR photography with an emphasis in landscape and architectural images. I approach my photography with a “3 R's” philosophy: rich, realistic, and romantic.

I began to seriously shoot in the summer of 2009 and have loved every minute of it. It wasn't until I discovered high dynamic range photography (HDR) that I started to take my hobby seriously. HDR imaging is an emerging form of photography that combines multiple exposures (or brightness levels) of a given scene to capture the full range of light available to the human eye in a single image. In a nutshell, HDR photography produces an image that more closely resembles what we can see with our own eyes and can evoke some very tangible memories along with it. With HDR photography, I can make photographs that are uniquely mine.

Who knows where this whole photo thing takes me next. But it's not about the destination; it's about the journey.
